THE GIRL WHO SEES SMELLS - EPISODE 15
Wow. We're down to the end of the series. And tonight you'll get to see the very last episode of the series. Ack! I'm gonna miss our sensory couple.
"That was nasty, dude! What did you eat today?"
With Kwon jailed and Yeom Mi recovered (hooray!), Moo Gak regains his sense of touch and Cho Rim remembers everything. Connections to Cho Rim's past are re-forged, as Moo Gak gives her the ring and photo that Mr. Oh was keeping for her, and the book that her mother wrote in before she was killed. Kwon is apparently killed when the cop car he was riding in goes off the bridge into the Han river. Life begins to attain some normalcy after that. All of the members of the investigative team are rewarded for meritorious service. Some of the members find love, some quit the force, some stay on. Moo Gak proposes to Cho Rim and she accepts. A month down the road, however, at the very moment the wedding is to take place, Kwon shows up as an uninvited guest and snatches Cho Rim...
Well, that escalated quickly. I always figured Kwon would survive whatever they threw at him, if for no other reason than there's one episode left! What were they going to do in episode 16, twiddle their thumbs? Nope, Kwon's still on the loose, and this time he's got Cho Rim. He'd be a fool to go back to his old place, so this is a big problem! Where do you start to look for a killer?
"Keep looking -- my contact lens has to be down there somewhere..."
It's awfully convenient that both Cho Rim and Moo Gak shed their afflictions once Kwon is captured. At least it wasn't at exactly the same time. I guess it also had to happen since she was reluctant to move things forward with Moo Gak until she had her memories back. So some good came out of waiting.
"Okay, now it's warming up in here."
This episode was a pretty feelgood installment. I love it when people are happy, and that's what seemed to be going on. Well, except for Detective Yeh, who remained on the force instead of taking his place as CEO, but even that was played for laughs. Even in the shadow of the killer, life seemed to be going well for everyone. I kinda like these quiet moments, even though they are practically at odds with the rest of it. It's like there are two stories going: Moo Gak and Cho Rim, and the serial killer. Odd to be sure, but I love their relationship. Chef Kwon, I'm kinda done with him.
But this series has some really strange pacing to it. I'm glad it deviated from the "crime of the week" thing, but since they started in on the Chef-Kwon-as-killer plot, they keep coming after him, and he keeps escaping. Even now, they were trying too hard. "Okay, he's in jail. No, now he's dead." There's one episode left. Kinda obvious, don't you think?
"Isn't a kiss supposed to wake her up?"
I deducted a point because of the lack of special effects. We see one small part where Cho Rim finds out that Kwon is there, and that's it. She doesn't use it the rest of the time, and it was way too quick and perfunctory for my tastes.
I'm hoping the end blows everything out of the water. I want a happily ever after, but I want a fairly epic confrontation with Kwon, too. I want Cho Rim's powers to come into play so she can figure out how to get out of this mess. I want situations where it seems the bad guy's going to win, but Moo Gak triumphs in the end -- maybe just barely. Too much to hope for? I know, I'm hard to please.
We've got one episode left! Are you psyched for the ending? Have high hopes? Let us know!
