TRIANGLE EPISODE 14
Recap:
Young Dal continues his hypnosis session, which reveals more of his past. Dong Soo considers how similar it sounds to what he remembers. Young Dal reveals his plan to take over Daejung Casino to Dong Soo: the elderly invester Young Dal met in prison, Chang Mook, will hire Dong Soo at the casino. Soo Chang, Chairman Go's lackey, tails them, but learns nothing. Jung Hee, after winning in a competition, is being sent to Las Vegas with Yang Ha, who tells her he will win her heart at all costs. Man Bong is out of prison and looking for Young Dal, but Boss Min intervenes and gets Man Bong to leave Young Dal alone. Our young thug meets with Shin Hye and, at her prompting, remembers his name as well as Yang Ha's original name. Shin Hye recognizes these as the brothers that Dong Soo told her about. She takes him to the orphanage and reveals that his older brother is Dong Soo. Young Dal calls Dong Soo; the former detective steps outside the bar so he can hear better and is brutally stabbed by Go's scarred knifeman...
My take:
Young Dal and Dong Soo's relationship will likely take a different turn now. Dong Soo, who observes the hypnosis sessions in distinct violation of client/therapist privacy, confesses to Shin Hye that he got chills up and down his spine when he heard that Young Dal had a hyung and a younger brother. And Shin Hye very clearly spells it out to Young Dal, that his name is Dong Cheul and Dong Soo is his hyung. The writers have always given them that relationship anyway. But now there's more than simple bonding going on -- these men are related by blood. He's already told Young Dal to get out of the thug game while he can; will Dong Soo become more protective when he finds out they are brothers? (Dong Soo's not dead yet -- he can't be).
Shin Hye: "Do you remember?"
If anything, Boss Min could almost pass as a mother or a noona at least. Putting herself between Young Dal and Man Bong was a bold move, but also a protective one. True, Young Dal's plans just happen to involve a good political move for her, but also I think there's possibly a desire to nurture this young man, to shape him out to be someone more decent than just a thug. The fact that Chairman Go cut him loose makes the tie between him and Boss Min stronger.
Daejung Group is quickly descending into chaos. True to type, the writers have written them all as chaebol crazies who are into all sorts of corruption and fail as spectacularly as they shine. With multiple investors withdrawing, Daejung Group is in trouble. They consider Dong Soo a threat, and work to eliminate him. Meanwhile, a team leader of theirs is on Young Dal's payroll to provide information, and another seems to be working his own angle as much as anything, all while Yang Ha seems to have his own agenda, too, such as his vendetta against Young Dal. Not to mention, they are also beholden to Chang Mook, who apparently has limitless assets. It's a lot of fun to watch a major corporation implode. :)
Dong Soo, stabbed by Go's hired thug
Yang Ha and Jung Hee kind of end up where I expected them to. It's one-sided love, I think, with Yang Ha lusting after her, and Jung Hee dancing out of his reach. I think he's young enough for it could be puppy love, but I think it's progressed past that point... into stalker territory. He says that he will win her heart whatever it takes, and to me that's more than just weird. Dude, if she's not into you, then move on. You're young, there are several women who find you handsome, you're rich...oh well. If he were into someone else it wouldn't be interesting, would it?
So the reveal has finally happened, but where does that leave Yang Ha? I'm guessing if Shin Hye's tracking down the director, they'll eventually make that connection. I'm waiting for that one. And will they end up on opposite sides? He seems a bit antagonistic to his adopted family...I wonder what he will do when he finds his biological one. And then where will his loyalties lie? He is already being groomed as the successor to Daejung Group. If he knew the man they killed in the mining operation was his father... This is fantastic stuff, replete with twists and turns. I can't wait to find out what the next episode holds.
