KBS settles payment dispute with HanYeJo

KBS has managed to protect Baker King, Kim Tak Gu from the non-payment controversy with HanYeJo (Korean Broadcast, Movie, Performance, and Artists Labor Union). On September 1st at 1 PM, before HanYeJo began their official press conference at a restaurant in Seoul, they revealed, "Three minutes before the press conference is set to begin, KBS has made a settlement regarding their non-payment debt in lightning speed as of 12:57 PM." They went on to state, "KBS will be making a payment certification for the wages along with a settlement tool so that non-payments will no longer arise. As of this moment, all problems with KBS have been solved and KBS will no longer be met with any probems regarding their drama filmings." Excluding KBS, broadcast companies MBC and SBS have yet to make a settlement with HanYeJo. HanYeJo will be making a public statement denouncing MBC and SBS. Chairman Kim Eun Seok stated, "Broadcast companies are avoiding their responsibility of the issue. They have made their decisions regarding the choosing of production companies private and have even chosen production companies that have not been verified. Now they are saying that all responsibilities regarding production costs, labor, and wages are of the production company and not them. If they do not make their payments and set up a safety system that prevents such cases, we have no choice but to reject them. We cannot work for them for free." Source: MyDaily
