With the recent fan assault controversy ongoing, allegations involving Jessi and a physical assault case in 2013 are resurfacing.
Jessi attended a 6-hour police questioning concerning the assault of a fan, who was also a minor, by a member of her entourage last month, and she expressed her intention to cooperate with the investigation.
On October 17, JTBC's 'Crime Chief' aired an interview with female informant 'A', who claimed to have been assaulted by Jessi and her acquaintances at a club in Itaewon in 2013. The informant is known to be a Korean-American woman who immigrated to the US at the age of 2. She went to South Korea around 2010 to experience life in her homeland and visited an Itaewon club in May of 2013 just before returning to the US.
'A' stated she heard about the recent fan assault case and reached out to media to detail the 2013 incident and the circumstances surrounding the situation. According to 'A,' she was the victim of physical assault by Jessi and members of her entourage at a club in 2013, and as there was no CCTV at the time, there was no evidence as to who started the altercation. 'A' further stated she was assaulted by Jessi and 2 of her friends at a club restroom without any provocation.
Jessi has claimed she was merely trying to break up a fight between her friends and the informant 'A' and she never hit anyone, but 'A' is claiming Jessi had held her down as her friends hit her. As for why the charges were dropped at the time, 'A' explained she withdrew her complaint because she had to leave for the US, not because she acknowledged Jessi had no part in the assault.
The following is 'A's statement in the video above:
"I was trying to go to the bathroom, and those 3 showed up and beat me up. They said if I got on my knees and apologized, they would give me my bag back.
Recently, a high school student asked for a photo, and the friends around her attacked him. What was the reason for that? It was the same for me. I still don't know. It's totally similar. She's saying her friend is Chinese? Don't make me laugh.
What she's saying is that the friend is no longer there now. He's left the country. He can't be caught. That's what she means. It was the same in the past too."
'A' further detailed to JTBC, "In 2013, I was subjected to group assault by Jessi and her entourage at a club in Itaewon. At that time, Jessi also claimed that 'the perpetrator had left the country.' The circumstances are very similar," adding, "I ran into them in the club restroom and offered to let them go in first, but for no reason, they started a fight and hit me. Jessi and her friends punched me and tried to slam my face into the toilet. After they took my bag, they said they'd return it if I knelt down and apologized."
As for withdrawing her complaint because Jessi was not involved, 'A' stated, "That is not true at all. I never acknowledged that Jessi didn’t hit me. She clearly did." 'A' then explained that she had already planned her trip to the US due to work and had prepared her tickets, but felt she had no choice but to withdraw her complaint because the legal process would take about a year and she couldn’t leave the country while the case was pending.
'A' also had a message for the victim and his family, saying, "Please tell the victims and their parents that I understand what they’re going through. It breaks my heart to hear that something like this happened, and I hope they recover mentally and physically as soon as possible."
As previously reported, a fan, who was also a minor, had approached Jessi's group to request a photo but was assaulted by a man in Jessi's entourage in the early hours of September 29 in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam. CCTV footage showed Jessi's group trying to stop the assailant A, but Jessi left the scene shortly thereafter, raising suspicions that she ignored the fan assault by the member of her entourage. The rapper has claimed she is not friendly with the perpetrator, who is alleged to be a Chinese friend of a close associate of Jessi. Jessi has since apologized for the incident, but netizens are still having a negative response about the way the rapper handled the incident.
