Sayuri spoke out about the sexual harassment she experienced.
On December 16th, Sayuri updated her YouTube channel with a video featuring Japanese YouTuber Yuipyon. In the video, the two women candidly opened up about their experiences living in Korea.
Sayuri also shared, "I was on a MBC's program about 10 years ago when I didn't have a manager. I was having coffee at a cafe on the first floor because we were filming for basically the whole day. Then a much older, big-time celebrity who was also on the program came and joined me. I was caught off guard because he said, 'Sayuri, your skin is bad. You have a lot of acne.' Japanese people don't really talk to you about their skin or appearance. But I thought it was because he was concerned about my skin, so I told him I would go see a dermatologist."
She continued, "I thought the conversation ended there, but he kept on going, 'Sayuri, you're Japanese. Koreans think that Japanese people are not upfront. I've never seen an open Japanese person. I'm going to ask you a question now, and you have to answer honestly. How many people have you had sex with?' I thought I misunderstood at first because it was an absurd question to ask out of nowhere. Then he said, 'See, Japanese people are not honest, you have to be honest about these things.' And then he asked me the same question three times. At that time, I was more scared to be in the same space than to be angry, so I just laughed it off. I should have been angry, but I was too young."
"Even to this day, when I see him singing on TV, I get angry because I'm sad and angry that he was saying this to a girl who was about the same age as his daughter," said Sayuri. She continued, "To see that kind of person on TV still leaves a bad taste in my mouth."
The relevant segment starts around the 9:00 mark in the video above.
I really want this creep outed.
