J.Y. Park talked about his performance that took over the K-pop scene following the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
On December 8th, J.Y. Park made a guest appearance on AKMU's 'The Seasons,' and shared his perspective on the performance that became a legendary meme and took over the K-pop scene. It is also 11 years after AKMU first auditioned in front of J.Y. Park on 'K-pop Star'.
During the episode, J.Y. Park performed the exact same set list that he did at the Blue Dragon Film Awards. He commented, "At the Blue Dragon Film Awards, my throat was hurting badly. I performed after recording for 'Music Bank,' 'Golden Girls,' and 'KBS Song Festival,' and my vocal cords suddenly stopped working. I loved my hair, makeup, and outfit but I couldn't perform as I wanted to."
Chanhyuk then commented, "But when we auditioned, didn't you say maintaining your vocal cords is also part of your skills?" and J.Y. Park replied, "Yes, that's why I have been quiet because I couldn't make that excuse. And also that's why I performed the same set list again tonight. If anyone around you asks why J.Y. Park was like that at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, please tell them 'he was sick that day and he did it again on 'The Seasons.'"
His performance was great nonetheless. He did it without background vocals, pre-recording, autotune and after other performances which must have been super exhausting. His only problem is that he should've left a few seconds in between the songs to take some breath instead of how he did aka throwing himself right into the next song several times. That's why in the second half it was a real struggle for him bcs he was out of breath for that reason. Weren't it for this, he would've killed it actually. The stamina he has built is super impressive and such a hard work is required to reach that level. I really would love to have such myself.
