On July 7th, the official trailer for the upcoming Netflix special episode 'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' was released.

The trailer starts off with a shocking, and rather frightening, discovery made in the dark forest, and then flashes back to the story of young Ashin (adult role played by Jun Ji Hyun). As a young girl, Ashin seeks justice after her people are attacked. However, she is met with a cold response, "I am very sorry for your loss, but this is not something Joseon can intervene in". This leads to her story of vengeance, and the special episode of the 'Kingdom' series will explain the behind story of how Ashin is related to the mysterious disease that consumed the entire nation. 

Many loyal viewers of the 'Kingdom' series anticipate the release of this special episode, as it is expected to explain who Ashin is, and why she is related to the spreading of the disease. Season 2 of 'Kingdom' ended with Ashin's short but impactful appearance, and the release of this special episode will likely answer many questions that arose.

'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' premieres on Netflix on July 23.
