7 Must-Do Summer Activities in South Korea!

AKP STAFF

South Korea is a country that truly embraces the change of seasons, with distinctive foods, events, and shops that open as Fall, Winter, Summer, and Spring each take their turn. Now that summer is officially upon us, there's no better time to journey to Korea. If you're fortunate enough to be heading there, ensure your itinerary includes these seven must-do summer activities in Seoul, perfectly curated to immerse you in the season's vibrancy.

1) Water Bomb Festival: Summer screams water, and what better way to celebrate the summer with a massive pool party? Containing water gun fights, pool parties, and performances from your favorite artists, the WaterBomb Festival is an annual event that takes place when summer begins in Seoul.

2) Boryeong Mud Festival: Taking place in the months of July and August, the mud festival is an iconic festival that includes mud wrestling, mud bathing, fireworks, and of course, good food; what more can you ask for?

3) Daegu Chimac Festival: Everyone knows one of the best food combinations is chicken with a fizzling, fresh glass of beer. Quenching your thirst and being able to eat the crispy chicken, many go down to Daegu to partake in this summer festival.

4) Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival: Celebrating the romance of King Mu and Princess Seonhwa, this festival lets you explore the beautiful countryside of Korea. Not only that, summer is the season when the lotus flowers in Korea and in full bloom, so you get a piece of history and the beautiful aesthetics of nature.

5) Sinchon Water Gun Festival: Bring out the inner child in you, after all what better way to celebrate the summer than going around with a water gun and some of the best DJs in town?

6) Suwon Culture Night: Because Korea gets super hot during the day, you won't see too many people out when the sun is up. But during the summer, the nightlife in Korea is booming, and if you're looking for a stunning view, then make sure to grab a chance to watch the Hwaseong Fortress be illuminated along with eight different media art and cultural activities.

7) Hanagae Beach: You can't have summer without at least one beach visit, right? Well, if you're looking for a beach you can visit without all the cluster and without all the tourists, make your way to Hanagae Beach on Muuido Island, located in Incheon, and you won't be disappointed.

What are some of your favorite activities when traveling to Korea in the summer?
