President Park Geun Hye's corruption scandal has yet another strange detail added.
On November 22, President Park's opposition lawmaker made a claim that last December, the Blue House, the president's office and residence, had bought 60 'Viagra' pills and 304 pills of a generic brand of 'Viagra' -- both typically used to treat erectile dysfunction.
After a day or so of media frenzy and public's questioning of the usage of the pills, today, Park's office acknowledged that the Blue House, indeed purchased the pills. Their explanation? 'Viagara,' the Blue House says, were for potential altitude sickness that the Presidents aides and employees might suffer from when President Park visited Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya back in May.
The Blue House spokesperson Jung Youn Kuk stated that the pills were not used and emphasized that the pills are sometimes prescribed to climbers because they're sometimes effective in preventing altitude sickness.
However, this revelation does not help President Park's case as she has been struggling to stay in power in the last couple of weeks as more and more details of Choi Soon Sil, a long-time confidant and friend of Park, has been exposed to have been the driving force of political corruption with President Park's full knowledge and even support.
Additionally, it was also revealed that the presidential office also bought cosmetic injections for anti-aging treatments and other types of questionable drugs that might be abused; a Blue House spokesperson explained as "ordered for the entire staff."
As citizens continue to protest, demanding the President to step down, opposition lawmakers are making preparations to impeach her. However, with only a little over a year left of her presidency, she might just be able to continue staying in the Blue House until her term ends.
