Teddy, the founder and CEO of The Black Label, has made history as the first K-pop producer to win a Grammy Award.
The song ‘Golden,’ which Teddy participated in producing for the Netflix animated series ‘K-pop Demon Hunters,’ won Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 68th Grammy Awards. The award was announced during the Grammy Premiere Ceremony held on February 2 (Korean time) in Los Angeles.
This category honors songwriters who create original music for visual media such as films, television series, and video games. Alongside Teddy, Korean American singer-songwriter EJAE, 24, and producing team IDO (Lee Yoo Han, Kwak Jung Gyu, and Nam Hee Dong) also contributed to the track. This marks the first time a K-pop composer or producer has received a Grammy Award.
During the acceptance speech, 24 said, “We dedicate this honor to Teddy hyung, a true pioneer of K-pop who shared every step of this journey with us.”
‘Golden’ is performed by the fictional girl group Huntrix in the film and achieved massive global success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 last year.
Teddy, a former member of 1TYM, founded The Black Label in 2016 and has since led successful projects with artists such as MEOVV and ALLDAY PROJECT. He was also honored with the Best Producer Award at the 2025 Korea Grand Music Awards with iM Bank.
The main Grammy Awards ceremony took place later the same day in Los Angeles.
