Ahead of his solo 'TAPE: RE LOAD' concert in Manila, GOT7's Jay B sat down with the media to answer some questions.
In November 2024, the artist dropped his first full-length album, 'Archive 1: [Road Runner].' Talking about it, Jay B shared, "The first thing I had to focus on while working on it is to have fun making it. It was my first album after a long time, so that’s why that was what I focused on."
"I wanted to give more young, lively, and pop-based performance. But this time, I'm a bit greedy. I want to show that I'm sexy," Jay B on what he thinks has changed since his solo 'TAPE: PRESS PAUSE' solo tour in 2022.
Known for producing his own songs, Jay B expressed his desire to write tracks for other artists if opportunities arise. "I want to produce songs for other artists as well, but lately, I like making my own songs. I especially want to different genres, so it's also refreshing to me," he said.
Being GOT7's leader, Jay B admitted that he doesn't think he's "the best leader." He explained, "First of all, every member has its own role in a group. And I'm just doing my job as a leader, doing my best. I never think that because I'm a leader, I should do this and that. I don't think that way. Even if it's not me, other members can [be a leader] and fill in my role. I think the members trusting me as a leader is what matters."
allkpop then asked Jay B about a particular comment he'd seen or heard from his fans that had stuck with him. He responded, "I don't really remember particular one. But every time we release GOT7 or solo albums, I see comments like, 'Thank you for your effort' and 'Thank you for your hard work.' That's when I feel touched."
If Jay B were to compare him from 10 years ago to the Jay B we see today, he said, "First, the same thing is I'm still cute. The difference is I got older and more sexy," eliciting cheers from the audience.
Jay B's 'TAPE: RE LOAD' in Manila was presented by Wish Us Luck Entertainment.
