NiziU has dominated Japan’s music charts with their first Japanese mini album ‘AWAKE’.
Released on February 5 along with the title track ‘YOAKE’, the album topped the Oricon Weekly Combined Album Ranking for February 17 with 191,047 points. This marks NiziU’s fifth No. 1 on the chart, following ‘Make you happy’, ‘U’, ‘COCONUT’, and ‘RISE UP’.
They also claimed their fourth consecutive No. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking, making them the third female group in history to achieve this milestone. Additionally, they secured No. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Digital Album Ranking, completing a triple crown on Oricon’s weekly charts. The group also topped Billboard Japan’s Top Album Sales, Hot Albums, and Download Albums for February 12.
‘AWAKE’ is NiziU’s first mini album since their 2020 debut, reflecting their growth and artistic evolution. The album includes eight tracks, featuring ‘AlwayS’, written and composed by Motoki Ohmori of Mrs. GREEN APPLE, as well as unit songs ‘CRUSH’ and ‘Made of Love’.
Currently, NiziU is on their first winter tour, performing 18 shows across eight cities in Japan. They recently held concerts in Miyagi (February 8–9) and will continue in Aichi (February 15–16) and Fukuoka (February 22–23). On February 20, they will appear as a guest performer at J.Y.
