On January 8, Park Sung Hoon addressed the controversy surrounding his upload of an AV (adult video) image.
During an interview for Netflix’s original series 'Squid Game Season 2' held at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Park Sung Hoon apologized stating, "I sincerely want to apologize for causing discomfort and concern to many people due to my significant mistake." He continued, "I approached this interview with a heavier and more tense heart than ever before. The biggest reason is that I am deeply worried that the hard work of our production team, staff, and countless actors might be overshadowed or harmed in any way."
Park Sung Hoon then took the time to explain the situation in which he accidentally uploaded the explicit photo. He elaborated, "While I was hastily getting ready due to having a schedule around lunchtime, I discovered the problematic photo in a DM. At that time, it was just the first week after the release of the project, only a few days in, so I was constantly exchanging feedback with the person in charge about viewers' reactions." He continued to explain, "When I saw the photo, I was completely shocked, and since I felt it could definitely become an issue, I tried to pass it along. However, during that process, there was some sort of handling mistake or manipulation—something I still find hard to understand myself—but before I knew it, the photo ended up being posted to my story."
He stated, "After the upload, I was so flustered that I immediately called the person in charge and discussed how serious the issue seemed. I deleted the photo right away, and I didn’t even watch the video, of course." He clarified, "Some people speculated that I might have accidentally posted it while trying to upload it to a private account, but I don’t even have a private account—I only use this one account."
On the verge of tears, he choked up and explained, "Ultimately, it was my mistake that caused the post to go up, but I firmly believe that a mistake is a mistake. I caused concern for many people, and I am fully aware of that. I’ve spent the past few days filled with immense self-blame, regret, and reflection. I’m still reflecting, even at this very moment," and bowed his head in apology.
He further added, "I fully understand the seriousness of the situation, and from now on, I will carry a heavy sense of responsibility to ensure that such a mistake never happens again. I will be mindful of my words and actions in my daily life and strive to continue my career as an actor with caution and integrity."
