On the January 24 broadcast of KBS2's 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant', Kim Jaejoong had a sincere heart to heart with his older sisters about his adoption.
Sitting down together for a delicious, home-cooked meal, Jaejoong and his sisters recalled how frail and sickly Jaejoong was as a child.
Here, Jaejoong's fourth sister opened up about what it was like when 3-year old Jaejoong was brought to their home to become their youngest sibling. "It was when I was in 6th grade. I came home from school, and there was a tiny, 3-year old child in the yard. So I asked, 'Mom, who's that?'. And she said, 'Doesn't he look just like you? He's your brother'," she began.
"He then came over to me and hugged me. I also remember him eating like he was starved for days. And then he would throw it all up. He kept throwing up the food he ate. He was so pitiful, so I thought I should take care of him," sister #4 explained.
Later on, Kim Jaejoong also revealed, "Of course, I didn't know that I was adopted until much later. I didn't find out until after I debuted. But I don't think it's that important. My family is more important, and being with my family in the present is more important."
Hearing his sisters' stories about what it was like when he came home as a child, Jaejoong reflected, "No matter how close we are as siblings, i's not something that we could just talk about casually. Today was the first time I've ever heard my sisters say, 'When you first came home...'. They shared those stories with me for the first time in my life. It was very meaningful."
Finally, Kim Jaejoong stated, "I think 30 years ago, the topic of a child being adopted into a family might have been frowned upon. But I don't think that's true these days. Right now, when I appear on 'Fun-Staurant' and share my story and my family's story, I want people to realize, 'A family can love one another even when they are not related by blood'."
