According to an exclusive report by OSEN on January 10, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is preparing for a solo comeback in February. Regarding this, Jisoo’s representatives told OSEN, "We cannot confirm the details," refraining from further comment.
Jisoo’s upcoming solo comeback will mark nearly two years since the release of her first single album 'ME' in 2023. During her previous promotions with the title track “Flower,” Jisoo sparked a viral trend with the “Flower Challenge” and garnered immense love, securing nine music show wins and proving her popularity.
Anticipation is running high as Jisoo is the last BLACKPINK member to make her solo return. Previously, Jennie released her solo single “Mantra” in October last year, Lisa dropped “Rockstar” in June, and Rosé released her first full-length album 'ROSIE' on December 6.
Before her solo comeback, Jisoo will reconnect with fans as actress Jisoo. She will star as "Young Joo" in the Coupang Play series 'Newtopia,' which premieres on February 7.
'Newtopia' tells the story of Jae Yoon (played by Park Jung Min), a late recruit in the military, and his fearless girlfriend Young Joo, who traverse zombie-infested Seoul to reunite with each other. The series, directed by Yoon Sung Hyun of 'Bleak Night' and 'Time to Hunt,' blends thrilling visuals with the director’s distinctive touch in what is expected to be a unique K-zombie rom-com.
Jisoo’s return to acting comes three years after her lead role in 'Snowdrop.' Prior to 'Snowdrop,' Jisoo made special appearances in 'The Producers' and 'Arthdal Chronicles.' Her portrayal of Eun Young Ro in 'Snowdrop' showcased her acting potential.
Following 'Newtopia,' Jisoo is set to continue her acting career with roles in MBC’s new drama 'Monthly Boyfriend' and the film adaptation of 'Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.'
In addition to her solo comeback and acting projects, Jisoo is also expected to resume group activities with BLACKPINK. YG Entertainment’s executive producer Yang Hyun Suk has previously announced plans for BLACKPINK’s comeback and a new world tour this year.
