IVE's Jang Won Young revealed a surprising story behind how she was cast and explained she originally dreamt of becoming an announcer instead of a singer.

On January 15, IVE's Jang Won Young and Ahn Yu Jin appeared as special guests on 'You Quiz on the Block.' During the episode, the girls talked about various topics including stories of their trainee days and their career as K-pop idols.

In particular, Jang Won Young shared the story of how she was discovered and cast into Starship Entertainment to become an idol trainee. She opened up by confessing, "I never dreamt of becoming a singer when I was younger. I always wrote 'Announcer' in questionnaires asking about my dream future job. I always dreamt of becoming an announcer."

Jang Won Young continued to reveal, "I went to my sister's graduation, and I coincidentally ended up getting cast there, which led me to become a singer." She continued to share the intriguing story and explained, "The reason I think it was destiny is that after the staff cast me, she quit just three days after I entered the company." 

She continued, "But as you all know, you come across people in the entertainment industry here and there. But I never met her again after that time. She cast me and then just left. On top of that, she was a rookie staff member. She was very young and so I would greet her 'Unnie thank you' but three days later, she disappeared."

Jang Won Young concluded by explaining that it was destiny for her to become a singer. She explained, "Because of this, I think it was destiny. I'm sharing this for the first time. It wasn't even my graduation (I was cast at)."
