For the promotions of their upcoming series ‘Newtopia’, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and actor Park Jeong Min take on an interview to share tidbits, promising a fun romance series where love flourishes amid a zombie apocalypse full of twists and turns.

When asked why they accepted the offer for ‘Newtopia’, Park Jeong Min gives a concise and playful response that it was solely because of Jisoo. Jisoo reciprocates by expressing that she took on the cameo appearance in the film ‘Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman’ amid her busy schedule after hearing that Park Jeong Min would make a cameo. Similarly, aside from the engaging script, she accepted the ‘Newtopia’ project as she looked forward to watching Park Jeong Min’s acting up close.

In addition, Park Jeong Min says that he would love to collaborate again, and echoing his sentiments, Jisoo reveals that the two actually did not get that many scenes together in ‘Newtopia’. To which, Park Jeong Min wittily suggests reuniting in a ‘Newtopia’ sequel, expressing his wish for the success of this series.

As for the similarities between their characters and themselves, Jisoo mentions that she is similar to her character Young Joo in terms of how resolute they are once their mind is made up. She adds on that she feels Young Joo is more empathetic than she is, and unlike Young Joo, she would probably have prioritized her goal of finding her boyfriend Jae Yoon over everything else. On the other hand, Park Jeong Min states that he was a cool and collected soldier when he served his mandatory military service, but his character Jae Yoon fusses around a lot. He playfully adds on that he resonates with how Jae Yoon is not very strong.

‘Newtopia’ features Young Joo, played by Jisoo, and Jae Yoon, played by Park Jeong Min, who have been going through a rough patch in their relationship. A sudden zombie outbreak leads the two to become determined to reunite as they rediscover their love for each other.

The Coupang Play series ‘Newtopia’ is slated to premiere on February 7 on its own streaming platform and Amazon Prime Video.
