'2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon WANNABE' to air during Lunar New Year holiday.
The '2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon WANNABE,' which was postponed due to the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy, will finally reach audiences during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Scheduled to air on January 29th at 5:25 PM KST, the first part of the program will bring together top K-pop artists under the theme "WANNABE," igniting excitement at the start of the new year.
This year’s 'MBC Gayo Daejejeon WANNABE' will be hosted by Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, who has been a beloved MC for the event for ten consecutive years, SHINee’s Minho, who returns for the second year, and TWS’s Dohoon, who is making his debut as a national broadcast MC in record time since his debut. This edition will mark Yoona’s final appearance as an MC for the show, making it a meaningful farewell for both her and fans after nearly a decade of hosting.
The first part of the show will feature an exciting reunion of “Chemis,” a team formed on tvN’s hit variety show 'Earth Arcade', consisting of comedian Lee Eun Ji, Oh My Girl’s Mimi, rapper Lee Young Ji, and IVE's Yujin. With all four members coming together on stage, expectations are high for a powerful, high-energy performance.
Additionally, a much-anticipated special collaboration stage will bring together three of 4th-generation’s top visuals and powerhouse performers—ITZY’s Yuna, aespa’s Karina, and NMIXX’s Sullyoon. Their flawless balance of visuals and skills is already fueling anticipation for a legendary performance.
A perfect "WANNABE" pairing will also take the stage—Lee Young Ji and NCT’s Mark. As a longtime fan of NCT, Lee Youngji will finally share the stage with Mark, performing ‘Fraktsiya (Feat. Lee Young Ji),’ and an additional surprise performance, heightening excitement.
Beyond these spectacular collaborations, '2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon WANNABE' promises a variety of unforgettable performances from many of K-pop’s most sought-after artists. As the show is set to celebrate the Lunar New Year and usher in 2025 with an explosion of music and performances, fans can look forward to a vibrant and dynamic showcase of K-pop’s finest.
