A heartbreaking story has emerged about a ZEROBASEONE fan who tragically lost their life in the recent Jeju Air accident while traveling to Thailand to attend the 'Asia Artist Award (AAA).'
According to a social media post, the fan was on the Jeju Airline travel from Thailand after attending the award show to support their favorite group. The post explained, "This isn’t related to SHINee, but I wanted to share something after some thought, as it seems not widely known yet. A friend of a friend, who was a fan of ZEROBASEONE, traveled to Thailand to attend the AAA (Asia Artist Awards) but tragically passed away in the Jeju Air accident. They said their belongings, covered in fan merch, were quickly identified. Please join in offering your condolences to the departed."
At approximately 9:07 AM on December 29, a Jeju Air flight arriving from Bangkok skidded off the runway during landing. The passenger plane attempting to land at Muan International Airport collided with the outer wall of the runway, bursting into flames upon collision.
The plane carried a total of 181 people on board, including 175 passengers (173 South Koreans and 2 Thais) and 6 crew members.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, at approximately 8:57 AM, the control tower at Muan Airport advised the accident aircraft of a bird strike. However, two minutes later, at 8:59 AM, the captain of the aircraft sent a "Mayday" distress signal to the control tower.
The aircraft then attempted to land on a runway in the opposite direction of the initially designated landing path around 9:00 AM. The crash occurred as the landing gear failed to deploy during the landing attempt.
