Singers Lim Young Woong and Sung Si Kyung both expressed heartfelt condolences and paid tribute to the victims of the Jeju Air crash during their respective concerts.
On the evening of December 29, Lim Young Woong held his concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. After the opening song, Lim addressed the tragic Jeju Air crash, which had deeply shocked the nation earlier that day.
"I greet you all today with a heavy heart," he said. "Hearing the news of precious lives lost in the plane crash, I feel deep sorrow. I want to sincerely express my condolences to the victims and their families. I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who is doing their best on-site in such a difficult and tragic situation."
Lim added, "Today’s concert is a cherished promise with all of you. With the sincerity I carried while preparing for this stage, I hope to deliver hope and comfort through today’s performance. I will do my best to sing and fulfill my promise to bring you joy and happiness."
His words were met with a round of applause from the audience.
Before the concert began, pre-show MC Jung Sung Ho took the stage and suggested a moment of silence for the victims. Tens of thousands of fans joined in the solemn tribute.
On the same day, Sung Si Kyung also honored the victims during his concert. Sharing his sorrow over the tragedy, he invited his fans to reflect on the loss together.
According to OSEN, Sung Si Kyung observed a moment of silence with his audience. Following the opening performance, he expressed his sadness over the crash and invited the crowd to join him in honoring those who lost their lives.
"I came here with a heavy heart after hearing the news of today's accident," Sung Si Kyung said. "I hope no more terrible news like this reaches us. This event is a promise with all of you, and I will do my best."
Encouraging the audience to pause and reflect, he added, "For those who have lost their lives and those who are currently engulfed in sorrow, I hope we can take some time to think of them," before leading a sincere moment of silence.
As news of the tragic accident spread, the broadcasting and entertainment industries responded with an outpouring of condolences. Celebrities shared messages of mourning through their personal channels, while major broadcasters transitioned to breaking news coverage and canceled scheduled entertainment programs.
