Kim Chang Ryul reacts to state of emergency with wordplay

DJ DOC’s Kim Chang Ryul reflects on state of emergency with a wordplay.

On December 4th KST, Kim Chang Ryul posted on social media, “Martial law. It’s really ‘martial.’” along with a photo.

In the shared photo, Kim Chang Ryul is seen gazing somewhere with a serious expression. Through his wordplay on the term “martial law” (계엄), Kim expressed his mixed emotions about the situation.

On December 3rd at 10:24 PM, President Yoon Suk Yeol declared a state of emergency at the Yongsan Presidential Office. Armed martial law forces stormed the National Assembly, breaking glass windows and clashing with citizens as they entered the building.

The National Assembly passed a resolution demanding the lifting of the state of emergency with 190 votes in favor. Following this, President Yoon lifted the emergency declaration and ordered the withdrawal of the military forces at 4:27 AM on December 4th.
