ILLIT, the breakout stars behind the "magnetic syndrome," have achieved significant milestones on TikTok's 'Year On TikTok' charts.
Their debut hit 'Magnetic' ranked 4th in South Korea and 3rd in Japan in the "Top Songs" category, which measures the most-used songs for content creation on the platform. Notably, 'Magnetic' was the only K-pop song to simultaneously chart in both countries.
In Japan, where J-pop dominates more than 80% of the rankings, 'Magnetic' was the sole K-pop track to make it into the top 10, standing out as a remarkable "lone star." The song's catchy hook, often referred to as the "super attraction" chorus, combined with its iconic "finger dance" choreography, has driven global social media challenge trends throughout the year.
Beyond TikTok, 'Magnetic' showcased its dominance as a "Song of the Year" contender, ranking 25th on Apple Music’s global year-end chart and 15th on Billboard Japan’s annual rankings.
Following the success of 'Magnetic,' ILLIT scored another massive hit with their second track, 'Cherish,' released in the second half of the year.
The group also made a significant breakthrough by securing an appearance at NHK’s ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen,’ Japan’s most prestigious year-end music festival, marking another milestone in their debut year.
