Gong Yoo recently shared his honest thoughts on the President's declaration of martial law.
On December 5, Gong Yoo held a press interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno, Seoul, to discuss the Netflix series 'Trunk.'
The previous day, fellow lead actress Seo Hyun Jin’s scheduled interview had been canceled due to the martial law declaration issued by President Yoon Suk Yeol on December 3.
Although a resolution to lift martial law was proposed and passed in a National Assembly plenary session attended by 190 lawmakers at 1 AM on December 4, and President Yoon officially lifted the declaration at 4:27 AM, Seo Hyun Jin's schedule was disrupted.
Reflecting on the incident, Gong Yoo said, “On the morning of the 4th, I had other commitments, so I was sitting at my desk doing some work. Suddenly, people I worked with on 'Trunk' started messaging me on KakaoTalk, and the chatrooms were in chaos. That’s when I turned on the TV and watched the live broadcast.”
He continued, “What I saw was something unbelievable, like a scene from a movie. It was a situation I never imagined I’d experience in my lifetime. Like everyone else, I spent the night anxiously awake, unable to sleep until martial law was lifted.”
'Trunk,' released on Netflix on November 29, is a mystery melodrama centered on a secretive marriage service and the strange relationship between two individuals whose lives are upended by a trunk that appears floating on a lake.
