Popular YouTuber and entertainer Dex has announced plans for legal action against privacy invasions and unauthorized use of his content. In a statement released on December 2 by his agency, Kick the Hurdle Studio, it was revealed that Dex’s YouTube channel, DEX101, will temporarily halt operations to restructure its content.

"Hello, This is Kick the Hurdle Studio.

First and foremost, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have shown unwavering love and support for our artists. Today, we have a few important announcements to share with you.

First, our artist Dex's YouTube channel, [DEX101], will be taking an extended hiatus starting December 2, 2024. Despite its busy schedule over the past four years, the DEX101 channel has continued to strive for excellence. However, after several short breaks, we have determined that further internal adjustments are necessary to refine the channel's content. This break is not a decision to stop but rather a step toward providing better content in the future. We kindly ask for your understanding and patience, and we promise to return with improved content after the break.

Second, recently, we have noticed an increase in cases where copyrighted materials featuring our artist Dex (such as appearances on broadcasts, portraits, names, photos, and edited works) are being illegally used without permission both online and offline. Please note that all video content featuring Dex, as well as his portrait rights and name rights, are protected under copyright laws. Unauthorized use of these materials may result in legal action.We request that any unlawfully used materials be taken down by December 10, 2024. Beyond this date, we will take legal measures regarding any unauthorized usage of copyrighted materials.

Third, we are aware of incidents involving the invasion of our artists' privacy through actions commonly referred to as "sasaeng behavior," which have been brought to our attention via internal monitoring and fan reports. Actions such as visiting artists' residences without permission, following them during their private time, and taking unauthorized photos or videos are severe violations of privacy that cause anxiety and fear. We will take firm action against such stalking crimes. Furthermore, certain individuals have been spreading false information and distorted rumors about our artists, causing psychological harm to the artists, their families, and close acquaintances. We urge anyone engaging in stalking or spreading baseless rumors with malicious intent to cease such actions immediately. Kick the Hurdle Studio will take uncompromising legal action against those who violate our artists' basic rights by engaging in stalking or spreading falsehoods.

We deeply appreciate your ongoing love and support for our artists, and we kindly ask for your continued encouragement and warm-hearted support. Thank you."

The agency’s statement addressed growing concerns over Dex’s privacy, stating, “We have become aware, through internal monitoring and reports from fans, of individuals invading the personal life of our artist, causing fear and anxiety through stalking crimes. We will take firm legal measures against such behavior.”

Additionally, the agency condemned the spread of false rumors and misinformation about Dex, emphasizing that these actions have caused significant mental distress to Dex and his family. “We will take legal action without settlement against those spreading baseless falsehoods with malicious intent,” the agency warned.

Kick the Hurdle Studio also highlighted the frequent unauthorized use of Dex’s broadcast appearances and edited materials online. “The appearances, likeness, and name of Dex are protected by copyright laws. Unauthorized usage will be subject to legal penalties,” the statement read, urging users to remove such content by December 10, 2024.

Dex, a former member of the South Korean UDT (Undersea Defence Technology), gained fame through the military-themed web show Fake Men 2 in 2020 and MBC’s Game of Blood. He later achieved international recognition with Netflix’s Single’s Inferno 2, leading to widespread popularity and appearances on various TV programs, including Running Man, You Quiz on the Block, and Amazing Saturday.

With a YouTube subscriber base of 900,000, Dex has captivated fans by sharing moments from his daily life. However, his recent experiences with privacy violations have prompted this decisive response to protect his rights and well-being.

Fans expressed support for Dex’s decision, applauding his firm stance against misconduct. As his agency works to address these issues, viewers eagerly await the return of DEX101 with refreshed content.
