There have been new updates on former BTOB member Ilhoon.
It was revealed that Ilhoon had opened his first art exhibition titled 'Tiny Ark' at a location in Seongsu-dong, Seungdong-gu, Seoul. He is holding the exhibition from October 4 to 6 to share with fans the artworks he had been working on during his self-reflection period.
This latest exhibition serves as an opportunity for him to let fans know that he is doing well. In addition to his artwork, he is selling a variety of merchandise to deepen his connection with fans.
Various goods such as t-shirts, hoodies, ball caps, eco bags, mugs, key rings, and photo books are being sold at the exhibition. He is also giving out 10 types of special photo cards depending on the amount of purchase.
The exhibition occupies the first and second floors of the venue to provide special memories to fans.
Meanwhile, Ilhoon left BTOB after being charged with purchasing and smoking marijuana. He was caught in December 2020 for purchasing approximately 130 million KRW (~ 96,520 USD) worth of marijuana and smoking it between July 2016 and January 2019.
In the first trial, he was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of around 133 million KRW (98,747 USD). However, on appeal, his sentence was reduced to a two-year prison term with a three-year suspended sentence, along with 40 hours of a drug treatment program and a fine of 126.63 million KRW (94,017.98 USD).
The court explained the reasons for the reduced sentence, explaining, "Although Jung Illhoon had purchased and used marijuana for a long period, it seems he voluntarily stopped buying and smoking marijuana around January 2019. He has no prior criminal record, has sought treatment for drug addiction, and has maintained relatively strong social ties, with his family showing a willingness to support him."
During the appeal process, Ilhoon submitted a total of 88 letters of self-reflection, pleading for leniency.
After his release, he apologized to fans through his social media and wrote, "During the past few years of investigation, trial, and imprisonment, I’ve deeply reflected on my life." He also emphasized, "As much as I have caused harm to society and disappointed those who believed in me, I will live properly from now on and make every effort to ensure that I do not hurt anyone again."
