HYBE has denied allegations that the company was a paid subscriber of the infamous YouTuber Sojang.
On October 29, a HYBE representative told Ilgan Sports, "This claim is not true."
Previously, on October 28, a netizen posted on an online community stating that "HYBE was a paid member of Sojang" and revealed a captured photo of Sojang's YouTube community bulletin board announcement.
In the photo, Sojang made the announcement, "We are honored to have a major entertainment company sign up for Sojang membership." The message continued, "It's one of these companies - SM, YG, JYP, or HYBE." The netizen referenced the recent internal report from HYBE, which cited SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan as supporting evidence that HYBE was the paying subscriber
The netizen explained, "In the report, it said, 'Recently Sojang posted something about Jeonghan exclusively for paid members.' It also included HYBE's monitoring of Sojang's persistent targeting of other artists." The netizen argued that HYBE must be a paid member of Sojang as the company was aware of information only accessible to paid subscribers.
However, HYBE has denied the claims.
In other news, HYBE has filed a total of eight lawsuits at the Seoul Western District Court against seven YouTube channels, including Sojang, which are considered "cyber wreckers" that spread ungrounded rumors about celebrities.
