Producer and Singer-Songwriter Cloud reveals allegations against ex-girlfriend Baek Ye Rin.
Producer and singer-songwriter Cloud (Ko Hyung Seok) has stirred controversy after revealing allegations of mistreatment by his ex-girlfriend, singer Baek Ye Rin. On October 14th KST, Cloud shared a lengthy post on his Instagram, criticizing the former management company associated with Baek Ye Rin, People Like People (PLP).
Cloud explained, “PLP is run by the staff from my former company, Bluevinyl, where I was signed until February this year. Throughout my time there, I continuously supported a PLP artist in ways beyond just working together, often managing emotional and erratic behaviors to prevent disruptions to work.”
He described how he felt responsible for managing these situations, noting that the company staff would rely on him to handle crises, which led him to sacrifice a significant portion of his personal life. Cloud recounted that his personal well-being and relationships suffered, particularly during the release of his solo album, when Baek Ye Rin allegedly stated that the album made her feel depressed, causing Cloud to cease all solo work.
Cloud also shared how his personal relationship with his new partner was affected by his continued involvement with PLP and Baek Ye Rin. He described being overwhelmed with work related to Baek Ye Rin and constantly having to manage her emotional needs, which included receiving disrespectful messages from her about his new relationship. He further claimed that Baek Ye Rin made inappropriate personal remarks during public performances, despite repeated requests to stop.
Cloud expressed that even after they broke up, Baek Ye Rin continued to interfere in his life, accusing him of causing her pain and stating that this would come back as karma for his new girlfriend. He also alleged that she made it difficult for him to retrieve equipment from his studio by changing the locks and that she wrongfully demanded he forfeit rights to unreleased music.
Cloud said that these events led him to leave both Blue Vinyl and the band The Volunteers, where he had been working with Baek Ye Rin, citing the impossibility of maintaining both his professional and personal relationships under such circumstances.
While Cloud did not explicitly name Baek Ye Rin in his post, music fans and media outlets have connected the dots based on his past relationship with the artist. Cloud and Baek Ye Rin were romantically linked since working together on her 2015 solo album FRANK, though the relationship was initially denied by her agency.
Cloud concluded his statement by announcing plans for legal action to protect himself, his partner, and his work, stating, “This is not merely a legal dispute over the unauthorized use of joint works. It is a step to prevent further harm and assert my rights.”
Cloud’s departure from The Volunteers was previously announced in March 2023, citing the harm that ongoing conflicts were causing to those around him.
