Chef Edward Lee revealed what led him to appear on the popular Netflix series 'Culinary Class Wars.'
The renowned chef appeared on the October 16th episode of tvN's popular talk show 'You Quiz on the Block.' During the show, Edward Lee shared about his life as a Korean-American and the reason he decided to partake in 'Culinary Class Wars.'
Chef Lee shared, "So many people have reached out to me through social media. I never expected it to gain this much popularity. Yesterday, I was on the subway and nearly 50 people approached me. I'm really happy to be receiving so much love and this experience feels very special."
He also expressed some regret and explained, "I don't have a restaurant in Korea, which is unfortunate. It feels like it's a missed opportunity after being on the show. I don't get many customers since my restaurants are in the U.S." bringing laughter to the set. He then jokingly asked Yoo Jae Suk, "If you know any wealthy investors, please introduce me. I'd love to open a restaurant in Korea."
Jo Se Ho chimed in saying, "Perfect! Yoo Jae Suk can be the wealthy investor, and you're the same age." Chef Edward Lee added to the joke, "Oh yeah, we were born in the year of the mouse (1972), we can call it 'Year of the Mouse restaurant'."
Meanwhile, Edward Lee, a second-generation Korean-American, is a renowned chef who won a U.S. cooking competition and has even served as a judge alongside Gordon Ramsay. He has also served as a chef for White House dinners. Despite already being well-known, Chef Lee explained why he chose to appear in 'Culinary Class Wars' and shared, "I wasn't particularly eager to go on TV and potentially embarrass myself, but when I heard it was a Korean program, it really resonated with me. I wanted to show my version of Korean cuisine to the world. That's why I decided to participate in 'Culinary Class Wars.' I made a promise to myself to use only Korean ingredients and to avoid the dishes I've always done in the past."
Meanwhile, Chef Edward Lee was the runner-up in 'Culinary Class Wars' while Chef "Napoli Matfia" Kwon Sung Joon was the winner.
