3-year-old child and elderly woman brutally assaulted by a woman in her 20s because their arms accidentally touched

It was reported that a child and a woman in her 60s were violently assaulted by a female passenger on a bus in Busan, simply because their arms accidentally touched.

On October 2, a post titled 'Busan Bus Child and Elderly Assault Incident' was uploaded to an online community.

A woman identified as 'A,' a mother of two, explained the situation: "Since my husband and I both work, my mother-in-law, who often helps out, offered to take care of my second child on October 1. The next day, on the 2nd, this incident happened as she was returning home to send my child to kindergarten."

According to 'A,' her mother-in-law boarded Busan's 77 bus at around 8:20 AM with her 3-year-old grandchild. They sat in a seat for two, with her mother-in-law holding the child on her lap. A woman in her 20s sat next to them.

'A' explained, "While my mother-in-law was readjusting the child’s legs, her arm accidentally touched the woman beside her. Without any time to react, the woman punched the child in the face. She didn’t stop there and repeatedly slapped the child with her palm."

She continued, "The child’s nose started bleeding from both nostrils. Instinctively, my mother-in-law shielded the child’s face with both arms, but the woman grabbed her arm with one hand and bit her. The bus stopped, and thankfully, other passengers stepped in to block the attack and reported it to the authorities."

The female assailant, identified as 'B,' was handed over to the local police station, while 'A's family gave their statements.

A expressed her anger and disbelief, saying, "Who would have imagined that a young woman would not only assault a child but also an elderly woman? My child was born in 2020 and is only 3 years old, and my mother-in-law was born in 1957. Even if she was uncomfortable, she attacked without saying a word. I'm shaking with rage, and I feel so sorry for the terror they must have experienced."

She added, "My mother-in-law was in tears, saying that if one female passenger hadn’t actively intervened, the situation could have been much worse. I don’t know if she’ll ever see this, but I am deeply grateful. To the person who reported it and to everyone who helped, you are lifesavers to our family."

Although the incident was resolved with the help of bystanders, A noted that the perpetrator showed no remorse. 'A' stated, "B claimed that the child was being disruptive and said she has anger management issues. She hasn’t apologized once. I can’t understand it, but even so, does that justify assaulting a child and an elderly person? The fact that she seems more concerned about avoiding punishment makes me furious."

'A' concluded, "I’m beyond angry—there are no words to express it. My mother-in-law, who couldn’t even defend herself while protecting the child, is heartbroken. I have no intention of letting this go, and I will ensure she faces the consequences."

Netizens responded with outrage, saying things like, "Anger management issues? Would she have acted the same way if a large man had been sitting next to her? I hope both the child and the mother recover quickly, and that their emotional wounds heal," and "If you don't like a child being disruptive, just move seats. Why hit someone?"

Other netizens commented:

"Ugh, I just want to punch that woman in the face."

"It's disgusting to see such violence over something so common."

"Even women can become endlessly cruel when they have power over someone weaker than them."

"Please reveal her identity. That's the only way I can protect my child from crazy women like her! I'm so angry and anxious, I can't stand it."

"Isolation from society is the answer."

"I'm really furious. I want to beat up that crazy woman."

"Her excuse was she had anger issues? She's just crazy."

"She needs to be thrown in jail to get her anger issues fixed."

"There are so many people going crazy."
