According to the latest statistics, South Korea holds the title for the tallest average height in East Asia and approaching the tallest in Asia overall.
Based on recent data, the average height of a 19-year-old male in South Korea stands at 175.5 cm (5'9.1"), while females average 163.2 cm (5'4.3"). These numbers bring the average height for adult Korean males to 175.2 cm (5'9") and for females to 162.5 cm (5'4"), nearing the average height of Europe.
When compared to many other Asian countries, South Korea’s figures are notably higher. In Taiwan, the average height for males is 171.4 cm (5'7.5") and for females, 159.6 cm (5'2.8"). Singapore follows closely with an average of 170.6 cm (5'7.1") for males and 160.0 cm (5'2.9") for females. Japan's averages are slightly lower, with males at 171.2 cm (5'7.4") and females at 158.8 cm (5'2.5").
Overall, the average height for Korean women is 162.2 cm, with Caucasian American women averaging slightly taller at 163.0 cm (5'4.1"). For men, the average height is 176.3 cm, while Caucasian American men have an average height of 177.5 cm (5'9.8").
