Jo Jung Suk shares Gummy’s advice on his music show debut

'Rookie Singer' Jo Jung Suk shares advice from veteran singer wife Gummy on ‘The Seasons’

On August 23 KST, Jo Jung Suk made his music show debut on KBS 2TV’s The Seasons - ZICO’s Artist, performing songs from his debut album ‘Jo Jung Suk.’ His journey as a singer, including the making of his album, is also being showcased on Netflix’s variety show ‘Rookie Singer Jo Jung Suk.’

During the show, ZICO asked why Jo Jung Suk chose The Seasons - ZICO’s Artist for his first music show appearance. Jo Jung Suk responded, “I really like ZICO, I even call him ‘Jiako.’ We’ve met up before, and I always wanted to appear on his show.”

Jo Jung Suk performed his self-composed track “Champagne,” explaining, “I wrote, composed, and arranged it myself. Life isn’t always happy and fun, sometimes it’s exhausting. I made this song thinking about how everyone deserves a little celebration, like popping some champagne after a hard day’s work.”

When asked about the album title, Jo Jung Suk shared, “I couldn’t think of a title, but someone said the whole album felt very ‘Jo Jung Suk-like,’ so I just went with it.” The album features nine tracks, and he expressed his hopes for it to be well-received.

Talking about the support he received, Jo Jung Suk mentioned his wife, Gummy, saying, “Gummy, who’s my closest senior in the industry, really helped complete this album.”

ZICO also brought up Jo Jung Suk’s past duet with Gummy at her concert, to which Jo Jung Suk humorously responded, “I was officially invited, but I know there were many other artists considered for the spot.”

When asked about any advice Gummy gave him for his debut performance, Jo Jung Suk shared, “She just told me not to be nervous.”

ZICO suggested a future couple’s special on the show, to which Jo Jung Suk playfully replied, “Why would that be an imposition? I’d love to, but I’d have to ask Gummy first since we have different management. If she’s up for it, we’ll make it happen.”

Finally, when asked to send a message to Gummy, who would likely be watching at home, Jo Jung Suk said, “I know I can’t compare to you, but I’d appreciate any advice you have for me. And please, don’t just shower all your affection on our daughter!”
