Mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang, who recently revealed that she suffered violence and extortion from a former partner, has been making regular donations to an orphanage for over five years. Her contributions have now totaled over 200 million KRW (~145,436.64 USD).

According to the Sangnok Orphanage in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, Tzuyang has been donating 3.15 million KRW (~2,290.63 USD) every month since May 2019. Although she has no special connection to the orphanage, she was moved to help after reading a post on its website.

On June 15, 2019, Tzuyang visited Sangnok Orphanage to volunteer. She cleaned the book playroom and played games with the children. On July 20 of the same year, she took the children on a trip to a swimming pool.

Even after announcing her retirement in August 2020 due to a controversy over undisclosed sponsorships, Tzuyang continued her donations. Just two months later, in October 2020, she visited the orphanage with toys and letters she had drawn for the children.

At that time, Tzuyang promised the orphanage director, Bu Cheong Ha, "Even if I can't send as much money as before, I will continue to donate as much as I can."

Director Bu shared through YouTube, "When Tzuyang retired, she said she would give even more if she earned money from another job in the future. It brought tears to my eyes."

He added, "It's not easy to help others just because you have money. Every word she said was a lesson. She said she didn't think of her earnings as just the result of her labor. She wanted to give back to society because the people who supported her made it possible."

In addition to her donations to the orphanage, Tzuyang has volunteered at workplaces for the disabled and donated tens of millions of KRWs to veterans, flower farms, fire stations, and hospitals.

On the 10th of this month, she donated 200 million KRW to the international relief organization World Vision and participated in 'Love Lunchbox,' directly packing and delivering meals for children at risk of hunger in Korea.

On July 11, Tzuyang revealed through YouTube that she had been subjected to sexual violence and dating violence by her ex-boyfriend, Lee.

She stated, "My ex-boyfriend Lee had secretly recorded videos of me and used them to threaten me, preventing me from breaking up with him. He frequently assaulted me, often more than twice a day, using items like umbrellas or blunt objects."

Tzuyang also disclosed that she had worked at an entertainment establishment due to Lee's coercion and that he had taken all the money she earned from her broadcasts. "When my broadcasts became popular, Lee created an agency and forced me into an unfair contract where I had to share my earnings 30-70 with him," she revealed.

With the help of agency staff, Tzuyang eventually filed a criminal complaint against Lee. However, the case was closed without prosecution as Lee made an extreme choice.
