It has just been revealed that JYP’s new girl group VCHA has now officially cancelled their scheduled Lollapalooza appearance. This news, combined with other worrying signs, has many fans concerned that the rookie girl group is already heading for disbandment.
VCHA was formed through the competition show ‘A2K,’ with the goal of creating a K-pop group composed of members born and raised in America. The group debuted in January of 2024 with the single ‘Girls of the Year,’ and most recently released the single ‘Only One’ in March. The group also participated in many other activities to build up their legacy, from opening multiple concerts for TWICE to appearing on the cover of Teen Vogue.
However, in March it was announced that member Kaylee would be going on temporary hiatus due to an unspecified health condition. No new updates on Kaylee’s condition have been released in the 4 months since her hiatus began.
In addition to this, fans have begun to notice a suspicious amount of inactivity from the group’s social media accounts. VCHA’s official X and TikTok accounts have not been updated in over a month, and their YouTube channel has not been uploaded to since April, almost 4 months ago.
The group’s scheduled performance at Lollapalooza was announced months earlier. VCHA was set to appear alongside other prominent groups like Stray Kids and IVE. Many fans feel the festival appearance could have been VCHA’s biggest break yet, helping their popularity grow and opening up new opportunities for the rookie group.
The recent announcement of VCHA’s cancelled Lollapalooza appearance has many fans disappointed and worried about the group’s inactivity. Less than 7 months after VCHA’s debut, the group’s future is now uncertain.
