StrayKids has set a historic record as the first group globally to achieve '5 consecutive No. 1 entries' on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with their new mini album 'ATE'.
According to a preview article released by Billboard on the 28th (local time), Stray Kids' latest release 'ATE', which dropped on July 19, topped the Billboard 200 main chart for the week of August 3 with 232,000 album units sold in the U.S. in its first week.
This marks the fifth consecutive album by Stray Kids to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, following 'ODDINARY' in March 2022, 'MAXIDENT' in October 2022, '★★★★★ (5-STAR)' in June 2023, and '樂-STAR' in November 2023.
Stray Kids first demonstrated their global popularity by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 'ODDINARY' in March 2022. Every album released since has also reached the top of the chart, rewriting K-pop history. With their new album 'ATE', Stray Kids have now placed all five of their albums at No. 1 consecutively, making them the first group in Billboard history to achieve this milestone. They join DMX as the second artist globally to debut five consecutive albums at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, underscoring their ambitious goal to dominate the global music market.
According to JYP Entertainment, 'ATE' sold 232,000 album units in its first week, the highest number for a K-pop album this year, and the sixth highest for any album released in 2024. Of these, 218,000 were album sales, making it the second highest-selling album of the year worldwide, following Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department'. Stray Kids also claimed the top spot on Billboard's 'Top Album Sales' chart for the week of August 3.
Stray Kids' new release 'ATE' is filled with the group's pride and confidence, with the title track 'Chk Chk Boom' reflecting a clear aim towards their goals.
The song debuted at No. 30 on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100, their highest ranking yet, and the album entered the Official Albums Chart Top 100 at No. 62. The album also topped the French Albums Chart (SNEP) and ranked No. 2 on the German Official Charts (Offizielle Deutsche Charts) and No. 7 on the Dutch Album Top 100 chart.
Stray Kids, who continue to captivate fans worldwide, will headline 'Lollapalooza Chicago' on August 2, closing out the summer festival. They will then kick off their largest world tour to date, 'Stray Kids World Tour 'DOMINATE'', with four concerts at the KSPO Dome in Seoul from August 24-25 and August 31-September 1.
