Earlier in 2023, ITZY's Lia took a temporary hiatus due to experiencing extreme tension and anxiety related to her demanding schedule. After consulting with medical professionals, Lia stepped away from activities with the group.
Over the past few months, fans have been waiting for Lia's return as many wished for her quick recovery.
Then, on July 9 KST, JYP Entertainment released a statement announcing Lia's return to ITZY.
JYP Entertainment stated:
"Hello, this is JYPE.
We would like to inform you about ITZY member Lia's health status and her resumption of activities.
Lia's condition, which involved symptoms of tension and anxiety, has significantly improved through treatment and rest.
After careful discussion with Lia, we have decided that she will resume activities starting with ITZY's new album release planned for the year's second half.
However, the group will continue as four members for pre-scheduled activities and filming before the new album release (Yeji, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, Yuna).
We sincerely thank the fans for their warm support and encouragement for Lia's recovery. We will continue to support our artists to meet their fans in good health.
Thank you."
Following the announcement, Lia made her first appearance since her hiatus on ITZY's fifth anniversary live-streaming event. There, she spent quality time with the members, who all dressed up in different characters from notable films such as 'Suzume,' 'Mathilda,' 'The Addams Family,' 'La La Land,' and 'Architecture 101.'
Fans were thrilled to see Lia rejoin the group and enthusiastically expressed their support for her future activities. They shared numerous videos of the latest live stream featuring Lia, continuing to cheer for her full return.
