Actress Lee Da Hae surprised everyone by revealing that she has not yet registered her marriage with singer Se7en.
On the June 26 broadcast of Channel A's variety show 'Men's Life These Days - Groom Class,' the episode featured the anniversary of Shim Hyung Tak and Saya, who celebrated the one year anniversary of their marriage registration.
Unlike in Korea, where the wedding day is considered the anniversary, in Japan, the day of official marriage registration is often designated as the anniversary because becoming a legal couple is regarded as more important. This is due to the cultural norm in Japan of changing surnames after marriage.
However, Saya did not change her surname. Shim Hyung Tak explained, "In Japan, you have to change everything, but the procedures are complicated, time-consuming, and very difficult."
Panelist Danny Ahn remarked, "Come to think of it, the day you register your marriage is the day you legally become a couple, so it is indeed an important day."
Lee Seung Chul joked, "Did I register my marriage?" and humorously asked, "Honey, did we do (the marriage registration)?", causing laughter.
Lee Da Hae, who held her wedding ceremony with Se7en over one year ago, surprised everyone by saying, "Now that I think about it, I haven't registered my marriage either..." When other panelists asked if it was true, she nodded with a smile, confirming, "I really haven't done it."
Although she had a wedding, she is still single legally. Lee Da Hae explained that she postponed the marriage registration because "we planned to do it on May 6, but it happened to be a holiday."
Lee Da Hae held a wedding ceremony with singer Se7en in May 2023 after eight years of dating. Last month, the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary by hosting a lavish rooftop party with friends, evoking envy from many.
