Global hallyu fans will vote to determine the winners of the 'Asian Star Award' and 'Drama OST Award' at the Seoul Drama Awards 2024.
The Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee and TNK Factory announced on the 12th that from June 15 to July 14, global hallyu fans will be able to vote via the 'Idol Champ' app for the Seoul Drama Awards 2024. The categories include the Asian Star Award (Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore) and Drama OST Award.
The Asian Star Award covers drama actors who have been loved in six Asian countries, including Korea, over the past year. In Korea, the male actor nominees include Kim Soo Hyun from 'Queen of Tears,' Byun Woo Seok from 'Run Away with Sunjae,' Cha Eun Woo from 'Wonderful World,' Song Kang from 'My Demon,' Suho from 'The Prince Disappeared,' Lee Junho from 'King the Land,' and Chae Jong Hyeop from 'Diva of the Deserted Island.'
Female actor nominees from Korea include Kim Ji Won from 'Queen of Tears,' Park Bo Young from 'Morning Comes to the Mental Ward,' Kim Hye Yoon from 'Run Away with Sunjae,' Im Yoon Ah from 'King the Land,' and Go Yoon Jung from 'Moving.' With both male and female actors from the popular dramas 'Queen of Tears' and 'Run Away with Sunjae' nominated, the competition between the Baek-Hong couple and the Sol-Seon couple is also noteworthy.
Actors from other countries are also strong contenders. From Thailand, Blue Pongtiwat Tangwancharoen, known for Netflix's 'Ready Set Love,' and Poomipat Iam-samang, who starred in the remake of the Korean drama 'Start-Up,' are nominated. Filipino star Kim Chiu, Malaysian actress Emily Chan, Singaporean actor Desmond Tan, and Indonesian actress Ochi Rosdiana are also in the running. This year's Asian Star Award is particularly significant as it includes a large number of emerging countries, highlighting cultural exchange within the Asian region.
For the Drama OST Award, voting will focus on K-drama title songs and singers. Nominees include Crush ('Queen of Tears' OST), Seungkwan of Seventeen ('Say You Love Me' OST), NewJeans ('My Demon' OST), Miyeon of (G)I-DLE ('Lovers' OST), and Seo Eunkwang of BTOB ('Detective 1958' OST), awaiting votes from hallyu fans.
All nominees for each category can be confirmed via the 'Idol Champ' app starting June 15. During the voting period, events will be held to give away tickets for the awards ceremony, which will be held at KBS Hall on September 25, and 'Idol Champ' points.
