The former flight attendant and banker turned YouTuber 'Woozakka' is inspiring others with her positive outlook despite facing an unexpected accident that led to the removal of part of her brain and left skull.
Recently, she uploaded a video titled "My Daily Life without a Left Skull | My Skull is in the Freezer" on her YouTube channel 'Woozakka.'
Woo Eun Bin, known as 'Woozakka' on YouTube, shared, "I had an accident and had to go to the hospital suddenly. I underwent craniotomy surgery and am now undergoing rehabilitation therapy."
Describing her current appearance, she remarked, "As you can see, my head looks quite different. My hair is short, and there's a noticeable gap on the left side of my skull. Another surgery is still pending."
Reflecting on her pre-surgery struggles, Woo shared, "It was challenging every time I looked in the mirror. Before the surgery, I always wore a hat to avoid any further injury to my left brain."
Woo suffered severe injuries from a fall, including brain bleeding, brain swelling, and a fractured spine, on January 27 while she was en route to give a lecture on flight attendant interview preparation.
Due to the severity of her condition, Woo underwent extensive surgery, during which approximately 40% of the left skull and a portion of her left brain were removed. The removed skull is currently stored in a freezer.
Woo expressed, "I experience constant headaches throughout the day, indicating the severity of my condition. As you can see, a significant part of my skull and left brain are missing, leading to ongoing headaches."
Post-surgery, Woo's primary concerns include potential language, cognitive, and hearing impairments. She receives daily physical, speech, and occupational therapy sessions.
Woo explained, "With 95% damage to the left brain responsible for language function, language impairment is a major concern. Additionally, severe bleeding caused significant damage to the left ear and nose nerves, exacerbating the situation."
Adapting to post-surgery challenges, Woo sometimes struggles to recall appropriate words, such as calling her mother as "father" or referring to a water dispenser as a "cold water dispenser."
To address these challenges, Woo has embarked on a journey of word study, actively engaging in language therapy workbooks and reading over 10 books typically read by students of different age groups.
Despite the hardships, Woo remains grateful for their current state and strives to maintain a positive mindset, believing that things will improve in the future.
Supportive netizens responded to Woo's video with encouraging messages, acknowledging their bravery and resilience. They expressed solidarity and admiration, wishing Woo happiness and acknowledging the beauty of their spirit.
