JYP Entertainment's new boy group NEXZ stated,
"We feel the pressure of being the first boy group to debut in six years since Stray Kids."
On the afternoon of the 20th, NEXZ held a showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the release of their debut single 'Ride the Vibe.'
NEXZ is the first boy group JYP has introduced in about six years since Stray Kids. The group was formed through the joint audition program 'Nizi Project' Season 2 by JYP Entertainment and Japan's largest record label, Sony Music, in 2023.
Huey said, "We feel the pressure of debuting after Stray Kids, but we plan to turn that pressure into a sense of responsibility."
The group consists of seven members: Tomoya, Yuu, Haru, Soken, Seita, Huey, and Yuki, with an average age of 17. They are characterized by the unique strengths and charms of Generation Z.
Soken is the only Korean member, while the remaining members are Japanese.
NEXZ, made up of six Japanese members, said, "We worked really hard on studying Korean. Please view us favorably," they added with a smile.
The group's name, NEXZ, is an abbreviation of 'Next Z(G)eneration,' and was personally coined by JYP's head producer and 'Nizi Project' judge, Park Jin-young. It embodies their ambition to lead the next era with the music and performances of Gen Z members.
Leader Tomoya asked, "Please watch over us as we grow and soar, just like our name."
NEXZ's debut song 'Ride the Vibe' is notable for its diverse and experimental sound variations within a sensuous atmosphere. The song invites listeners to join them on the vibe, capturing the excitement, anxiety, and thrill that come with a debut. The group aims to captivate music fans with their 'easy experimental' genre, a fusion of hip-hop rhythms and electronica elements.
Tomoya, Yuu, Haru, Soken, Seita, Huey, and Yuki plan to showcase their unique musical colors as they freely navigate the rhythm.
Huey added, "While preparing for our debut and the title song, we talked about highlighting our unique style and atmosphere."
The song will be released today at 6 PM.
Will they promote in Korea or Japan?
