HYBE has responded to the release of an email containing the opinions of NewJeans' parents.
On the 13th, HYBE stated in an official press release, "We would like to clarify regarding an email from NewJeans' parents to our company, which was reported by a media outlet today. We received this email on April 3rd and had already replied on April 16th, stating that the matter was not related to plagiarism."
HYBE added, "We also want to state that the claim made about the origin of the ADOR issue being due to not receiving greetings or being neglected is a unilateral assertion and not true."
HYBE expressed strong disapproval of ADOR representative Min Hee-jin's actions, stating,
"We cannot condone Representative Min's behavior of using artists as shields for personal gain, and even pushing the parents to the forefront. We urge her not to mislead the public opinion and to exercise restraint to protect the value of the artists."
In related news, a media outlet released an email reportedly sent by NewJeans' parents to HYBE.
The email expressed deep concerns about similarities in concept, styling, and choreography between NewJeans and a group from Belift Lab. It also revealed that members of NewJeans had allegedly ignored and avoided greetings from Chairman Bang Si-hyuk whenever they encountered him in the company, which added to the shock.
● Full statement from HYBE:
HYBE would like to clarify concerning the email reportedly sent by NewJeans' parents that was reported by a media outlet on the 13th.
We received this email on April 3rd and had already replied on April 16th, stating that it was not a case of plagiarism.
The claim that the ADOR issue originated from not receiving greetings or being neglected is also a unilateral assertion and is not true.
We are extremely saddened by Representative Min’s outdated approach of dragging artists and their families into her personal battles.
We have evidence that:
- The idea to send an email attacking HYBE was part of a plan initiated for a takeover and personal gain.
- Representative Min suggested using parents because raising the issue herself would violate the shareholder agreement.
- The email allegedly sent by the parents was actually written by L, the deputy representative, and Representative Min.
We plan to submit this evidence to investigative and judicial authorities.
We cannot condone Representative Min's behavior of using artists as shields for personal gain, and even putting parents at the forefront. We urge her not to mislead public opinion and to exercise restraint to protect the value of the artists.
There are idols who have had millions stolen from them while being overworked. There are idols who have had to live in bug infested homes with no working plumbing. There are idols who have been SA by their CEOs. I refuse to label “they didn’t say hi to me” or “they copied my look” as mistreatment. I don’t sympathize. They are privileged to have what they have so early in their career. That luxury apartment was provided by hybe. Their music is advertised by hybe. Their opportunities were made possible due to the connections hybe has created throughout the years. Talent and visuals alone does not guarantee that you will get to that level in your career. If they debuted anywhere else who knows if they would’ve gotten this big so early. The parents need to step aside. Not saying hi is not a arguable thing in the court system but what is arguable is interference in an investigation with fake statements made by the person being investigated . The parents should hope and pray that by allowing MHJ to speak on their behalf they didn’t accidentally breach a term in their daughter’s contracts. They should really reevaluate who exactly has given their daughters what they have.
