
On April 10, The New York Times reported that NewJeans' label ADOR is seeking help from a California federal court for a defamation lawsuit.
According to the report, ADOR has requested that a California federal court order Google (the parent company of YouTube) to reveal the identity of an anonymous YouTuber going by the username @Middle7. This YouTuber has been making defamatory videos about NewJeans and some of the videos have gained millions of views.


NewJeans attorney Eugene Kim explained that the account has been name-calling and other mocking behavior through the videos and continuously inflicted damage to the group's reputation.
The group has already filed a criminal complaint in South Korea; however, were unable to proceed with the lawsuit due to the anonymity of @Middle7. Therefore, ADOR has made its move to request the federal courts in the United States to aid with identifying the user.
