On April 19, YouTube reporter Lee Jin Ho revealed that former T-ara member Lee Ahreum had broken up with her boyfriend, whom she previously claimed she intended to marry after her divorce from her ex-husband.
The former T-ara member and her ex-boyfriend are accused of defrauding fans and acquaintances of 40 million won (28,980.06 USD), with speculation suggesting the funds were used to support a gambling habit. However, Ahreum has provided evidence to Lee Jin Ho alleging that her boyfriend confined her to his home and made threats against her.
Contrarily, recent revelations from the YouTuber indicate that the ex-boyfriend alleges Ahreum orchestrated the scams and threatened him instead.
During a phone conversation with Lee Jin Ho, the ex-boyfriend asserted, "I've been victimized by Ahreum. I am a victim," and shared photos and message exchanges to support his claims. He shared that Lee Ahreum was comfortably eating and drinking in her home. He even claimed she was drinking alcohol despite being pregnant with his child.
The ex-boyfriend explained to Lee Jin Ho, "Please upload this one thing for me. Don't fall victim to Ahreum's DM. I don't even do Instagram anymore. I forgot my password and when I tried to recover the account, it was hard since Instagram is based in the U.S. (Lee Jin Ho's response: No it's not. It's very easy). Just tell people not to be victimized by Lee Ahreum. Seriously... I'm human so I've lied a few times in my life but I don't want to lie about this incident. I've been psychologically harassed so much... I don't need anything else. I just don't want people to fall for her DM or anything like that."
He claimed that Ahreum asserted she had been spiritually possessed and would occasionally speak incoherently. This notion of receiving a spirit possession is a phenomenon in Korean shamanism, where an individual is believed to be inhabited by a spirit, often leading them to become shamans themselves.
The ex-boyfriend alleged that he went along with Ahreum's nonsensical statements, but she recorded their conversations to use it against him and subsequently threatened him. He claimed that the voice recording that Ahreum provided to Lee Jin Ho, was the conversation he was playing along with Ahreum's claims of being possessed.
Now he claims that Ahreum had blocked his contact and is blame-shifting all her scams onto him, leading him to reach out to the YouTuber to reveal the truth.
