BLACKPINK's Coachella performances are gaining attention again

AKP STAFF

While there is an ongoing debate about LE SSERAFIM's performance at Coachella, BLACKPINK's performance at the renowned music festival is regaining attention.

On April 13, LE SSERAFIM performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the U.S. The performance was live-streamed on YouTube and garnered significant global attention.

While the group received a warm reception at the festival, they also faced criticism for lacking skill. LE SSERAFIM's Coachella performance quickly became a hot topic in various Korean online communities.

Amidst these discussions, BLACKPINK's past Coachella performance also returned to the spotlight in these online community discussions. Many netizens shared videos and photos of BLACKPINK's Coachella performance in 2023. The performances were among the daily top music videos on YouTube in South Korea on April 15.

Netizens commented on the videos, "I was so shocked after seeing LE SSERAFIM and came to see all of BLACKPINK's Coachella performances," "I realized why BLACKPINK is a legendary girl group after seeing LE SSERAFIM," "I came after being shocked by LE SSERAFIM... BP best," "The audience should feel comfortable while watching the performance, but then I felt anxious watching another group lol :( BP is dang legendary...They're not world-class and headliners for no reason," "BP is gods. YG was right, they had eyes for talented girls," "Please make a comeback... please hold the reins tightly... even though you'll be on one music program," "BLACKPINK enjoys the Coachella stage... lol, the stage direction, live, and choreography are all good and fills the stage. This is what world-class is," and "There won't be another group like BLACKPINK."

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK was the first K-Pop artist to perform as a sub-headliner in 2019 and subsequently became the first Asian artist to headline in 2023, attracting even greater attention.

Funny how so many people are praising BP. They literally gotten so much hate for their performances but once people how much “worse” another popular group performances so many people have changed their tunes. People are even praising YG. Seems you just have to be the most popular group/company to get all the hate.

You all know what's sad about BlackPink's performance gaining attention? Is that people are just weaponizing BlackPink in their witch hunt for LSF. Weren't so many of you saying BlackPink were still lacking/boring/lazy? I don't mean in general, but in their last Coachella performance. I doubt the people now praising BlackPink are actual fans just the same way the same people hating on LSF are jumping the bandwagon because I'm sure many of you have liked their songs, listened to them, put Perfect Night on repeat, and used them on your reels and stories. Bffr y'all.
