ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin held her press conference about the ongoing controversy with HYBE.
Controversy arose after ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin allegedly attempted a "coup d'etat" to separate ADOR from HYBE, who owns 80% of ADOR's shares. HYBE then initiated an audit or ADOR's management and called for Min Hee Jin's resignation, releasing the details of the audit. The audit found ADOR had allegedly released private information about HYBE, and in response, Min Hee Jin criticized Bang Si Hyuk over alleged mismanagement at HYBE in an open letter. HYBE has now accused Min Hee Jin of relying on a shaman for management decisions and moved forward to press charges against her for breach of trust. Min Hee Jin was further accused of being greedy by employees in an anonymous message board, and she later claimed other groups had copied NewJeans, who she produced.
On April 25, Min Hee Jin held a press conference at the Korea Conference Center, where she stated she and HYBE have differing perspectives. Min Hee Jin expressed, "I feel like they all want me to die. If I suddenly die, will they all be happy? That's what I think honestly. I don't read all the articles and comments. If I do, I won't be able to live. I wonder if anyone can handle this much distress in a short period of time. I'm also human, and I'm not confirmed guilty. I think I'm innocent."
On the accusations that she took on management rights for greed, she stated, "It doesn't make any sense that I stole management rights for money. I have contracted shares already, and there's a lot I received that I cannot disclose. The different points released by HYBE are all advantageous to them. The details are false from my point of view." As for stating BTS stole her concept, Min Hee Jin said, "I never said that BTS stole my thing. HYBE was worried this would be defamation, so they stated, 'She said something like BTS stole my thing.'"
Min Hee Jin further accused HYBE of debuting LE SSERAFIM before NewJeans and blocking their promotional path as NewJeans were selected through a HYBE audition as HYBE's first girl group, one produced by Min Hee Jin under HYBE.
As for seizing management rights or a "coup d'etat," the ADOR CEO stated, "I'm a salaried CEO. I don't know why a salaried CEO would want so badly to be targeted." In response to HYBE's accusation of a "breach of trust," Min Hee Jin responded, "It's not actually a breach of trust. I didn't betray HYBE. HYBE betrayed me. I feel like they're framing me to suppress me. No one has achieved this performance in the 30-year history of the entertainment industry in just 2 years after creating NewJeans. I think it's a betrayal to suppress a CEO of an affiliate who's doing well and helping shareholders. What sin have I committed? I think it's only the sin of doing a good job."
On NewJeans, Min Hee Jin alleged, "The NewJeans members called me last night and cried for 20 minutes. They felt sorry for me and cried a lot. The mother of the members also said 'the public opinion turned upside down, and it's right before the president's execution,' so she told me I should tell everything." She teared up as she added, "I don't have to take care of NewJeans anymore. I don't have this desire. What do I do with NewJeans? It's nothing like that. NewJeans is really like my child, so I feel that way. It's so sad to leave my children at HYBE and leave."
Min Hee Jin concluded, "If I wanted money, I wouldn't have made an internal accusation. I can earn at least 100 billion won ($72,792,388.00 USD) doing nothing. However, I can't stand to see something that I disapprove of, so I have to voice my opinion about it. That's why I'm suffering."
In response, HYBE released the following statement:
"This is a notice from HYBE.
In terms of what was claimed by CEO Min Hee Jin at the press conference today, there is so much that is far from the truth that it's difficult to go through them one by one.
CEO Min distorted the facts by switching up the timeline and presented her characteristic distorted way of reinterpretation in a public setting.
We can refute all claims with evidence, but we have decided not to mention them one by one as they're not worth responding to.
However, we will diligently comment about facts that must be clearly stated in business terms in response to inquiries from media.
We respectfully request CEO Min to stop lying that 'there was no offer for dialogue,' and that 'there was no email response,' return the information assets as requested, and respond promptly to the audit. We urge her to resign promptly for the proper management of ADOR as she has already proven herself unfit to be in charge of management.
Additionally, please stop continuously mentioning artists and their parents as it degrades the value of the artists."
Stay tuned for updates.
