THE BLACK LABEL announced recently its plans to launch a new girl group.
On March 25, under THE BLACK LABEL's business report from YG Entertainment, it was revealed THE BLACK LABEL generated sales of 39.2 billion KRW (~29 million USD) in 2023. This represents a 74% increase compared to 2022, when the sales were 22.5 billion KRW (16.7 million USD).
THE BLACK LABEL was initially an internal organization within YG Entertainment in 2015 but became an independent corporation in March 2016. As a subsidiary label, it produced songs for YG Entertainment-affiliated artists, which was its main source of revenue. Teddy owns 42% of THE BLACK LABEL, YG Entertainment owns 22%, and other investment companies own the remaining 36%.
Currently, THE BLACK LABEL houses 10 artists including, Zion T., Jeon So Mi, Taeyang, and more. It also manages actors, including, Park Bo Gum, Lee Jong Won, and others.
According to the latest business report, an official from THE BLACK LABEL stated, "We have recently finalized the team name and debut members of the upcoming girl group," and added, "We are planning to debut the new girl group within the first half of this year."
Not only that, on March 26, fans discovered that THE BLACK LABEL applied for the trademark "MÈOVV" across multiple categories, leading them to speculate that the new girl group name would be MÈOVV. Many believe MÈOVV will be pronounced as "Move."
