BUMZU, acclaimed as the producer behind Seventeen's success, emerged as the top earner in royalties in 2023, surpassing even the renowned "BTS producer," Pdogg.
The Korea Music Copyright Association hosted the 10th KOMCA Copyright Awards on February 26. The event announced, "Producer BUMZU has swept all the major awards in the popular lyrics and composition categories."
The association honors the lyricist and composer each year who earned the highest royalties in each category. At the 2023 KOMCA Copyright Awards, BUMZU was the focal point of the ceremony.
This significant achievement challenged Pdogg's continuous reign as the winner in the category since 2019. However, Producer BUMZU claimed the prize this year, ending Pdogg's monopoly.
Affiliated with Pledis Entertainment, BUMZU has produced numerous hits for artists like SEVENTEEN and NU'EST. Among his notable works last year was SEVENTEEN's chart-topping song, 'Son O Gong.'
In the popular arrangement category, composer Cho Young Soo maintained his winning streak, securing the award for the fourth consecutive year. In the children's song category, composer Lee Sang Hee also retained her title, marking her fourth consecutive win. Meanwhile, in the classical category, composer Yiruma achieved his third consecutive victory.
The award for the Korean music field was presented to Han Tae Soo, the mastermind behind 'Beautiful Country.' Furthermore, the song that garnered the highest royalties in the streaming music field was Lim Young Woong's 'Our Blues.'
