2PM's Chansung has been cast as the lead actor in the upcoming drama 'Pure Coffee Connection' (lit. trans.).

His agency, L' July Entertainment, announced the casting news on February 11 KST. According to media reports, 'Pure Coffee Connection' revolves around a retro-style cafe on the corner of a shopping district. The cafe is run by a handsome Korean man named Siwoo, and the drama follows his story as well as those of the cafe's patrons.

"I feel nothing but honor to be cast as the first lead actor in a Japanese drama produced jointly by FujiTV TWO and HikariTV," Chansung said in a statement about his new role. "After reading the script, I thought it was a truly warm fantasy story. I wish such a place really existed. Although it's still before filming, I am looking forward to it very much, and I will definitely prepare and work hard to make it a great piece. I'm grateful."

Meanwhile, Chansung debuted as an actor in 2006 and as a member of 2PM in 2008. This project marks his first lead role in a Japanese drama, and he will also be responsible for the theme song. He made his solo debut in the Japanese market with the mini album 'Complex' in 2018.
