But some idols have done more than just fill a vacancy - they've become integral to their groups' identities, even if they missed the first round of introductions. Yeri (Red velvet)
Red Velvet debuted in August 2014 with four members. In March 2015, SM Entertainment welcomed Yeri as the fifth and youngest group member.
Kyuhyun (Super Junior)
With twelve members, Super Junior debuted in November 2005. Kyuhyun, the group’s youngest member, was added in 2006.
Solji and Hyerin (EXID)
EXID debuted as a six-piece in February 2012. Two new members, Solji and Hyerin, were added to the group after three members of the original lineup left.
Yura and Hyeri (Girl’s Day)
Girl's Day made their debut with five members in July 2010. After two of the original members departed, Yura and Hyeri later joined the group.
Daisy and Tae Ha (MOMOLAND)
In November 2016, MOMOLAND officially debuted. Daisy and Tae Ha, two additional members, were added one after the other in 2017.
Elkie and Eunbin (CLC)
CLC made its debut in March 2015 with five members. Elkie and Eunbin were added to the group later in February 2016.
Yubin and Hyerim (Wonder Girls)
Wonder Girls, a popular veteran girl group from JYP Entertainment, debuted as a five-piece in February 2007. In August 2007, Yubin replaced HyunA, and Hyerim took Sunmi’s place in 2010 after her departure.
Yeonjung (WJSN)
With 12 members, WJSN made their debut in February 2016. Yeonjung was added as the 13th member by Starship Entertainment later that year, on July 10.
Hweseung (N.Flying)
Hweseung addition to N.Flying was announced in June 2017. Prior to making its formal Korean debut in 2015, N.Flying debuted in Japan in 2013.
Ahyeon (BABYMONSTER)
BABYMONSTER debuted on November 27, 2023, featuring six members—aside from Ahyeon. On January 24, YG Entertainment announced Ahyeon’s much-anticipated return to the rookie girl group.
Which latecomer idol do you believe is the most important addition to the group?
