Rock ballad singer Jung Sun-yeon has passed away due to a chronic illness at the age of 51. According to Wannabe Entertainment, on the 29th, Jung Sun-yeon died the previous day in the intensive care unit of Hanyang University Hospital in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, due to his longstanding illness.
Jeong Seon-yeon made his debut in 1990 as the vocalist for the rock band "Four Seasons." In 1991, he teamed up with guitarist Kim Se-Hwang to form the band Downtown. Transitioning to a solo career later on, Jeong Seon-yeon garnered attention for his husky voice and went on to lend his vocals to various drama OSTs, including "My Mother Is a Daughter-In-Law," "Solitude," and "Bird That Doesn't Cry."
In 2015, after a hiatus of 13 years, he made a noteworthy comeback with a remake album of the theme song "Empty" from the drama "My Mother Is a Daughter-In-Law." The singer's revival stirred excitement among fans and the music industry.
Jeong Seon-yeon's memorial altar has been set up at Guri Yoonseo Hospital funeral home, and his funeral procession is scheduled for the morning of the 31st at 7:40 am. Fans and fellow artists are expressing their grief and condolences on social media, remembering the iconic singer's contributions to the Korean music scene.
