Recent revelations about NCT Taeyong's Korean spellings have left Korean netizens surprised.
On January 27th, a post compiling all Korean spelling mistakes by Taeyong garnered attention on a popular online community. Titled, "Have you ever seen an idol this bad at spelling?," the original poster wrote, "If a female idol was this ignorant, people wouldn't have been this quiet. I have never seen an idol this stupid yet not trying at all."
Some of the top comments are: "I don't think this is a slander...I would question even if I knew him personally"
"If a guy I was talking to wrote Korean like that I would block him that instant"
"It's so funny that he corrected his fan's spelling when his fan was right"
"Taeyong fans are stanning him despite he had a scamming controversy on a secondhand market, so they wouldn't care anyway."
"I know using accurate spelling isn't necessary in everyday life but at this level of intelligence, it must affect him in daily life."
They're right that a female idol would get hugely roasted for this, but that doesn't mean the solution is to criticize him just as harshly. It means people might need to be a little kinder with their criticism of idols in general. Not only do we not have the full story, it's just being a better person.
